ANNOYING CO- WORKERS

ANNOYING CO-WORKERS

We all have to deal with them; that one annoying co-worker. They talk too much, must be the centre of attention, are insanely loud and thrive on drama. Some have been known to steal lunches from the office fridge.

This pesky worker thrives on gossip and is an expert at judging others. They may be painfully happy and bubbly every… single… day or take loud and brazen phone calls projecting their annoyance at their partner’s inadequacies or at Telstra billing department.

The peace and quiet that trails behind them, when they finally leave, is a breath of fresh air. It is quite literally a ‘Ahh’ moment.

It’s easy to be annoyed with these ones but take a step back and think about what annoying habits you have in the office?

1. Are you a serial emailer –

Emails containing funny jokes, links to sites you find interesting or continuous solicitations for donations can become inbox evasive. Forwarding these emails to co-workers several times a day could give the impression that you are goofing off or need to focus on more important issues.

2. Are you a kiss-ass brown noser –

The co-worker who takes credit for some-one else’s work, passing it off as their own or the one who pipes up at a meeting blatantly trying to outdo everyone else. Perhaps you need to let your employer know you’re an asset to the company or let him know how great he looks in those salmon slacks, whatever it may be, its best to be subtle. Let your work speak for itself. Stop kissing ass and give your co-workers compliments were they’re due in a private and refined manner.

3. Are you always Missing In Action –

While being chained to your desk is frustrating to everybody, the co-worker who is M.I.A often leads others to believe that they are either a kiss-ass brown noser or having a puff on a ciggie out the side of the building or maybe taking a long lunch or has called in sick…again! Your empty chair suggests laziness and M.I.A can cause resentment in others.

4. Do you have a dirty slob desk –

The mountainous pile of paperwork and the empty stained coffee cups accumulating on the desk beside the apple core and empty chip packet could possibly suggest you’re a slob or you have no idea what you’re doing. Perhaps a little order and organisation (and fly spray) is required to look less incompetent.

The point I’m trying to make is you can’t change these issues. You work in a normal, messed up, crazy sometimes productive workplace. You also, can’t change these people, and neither should you try. You need to learn to deal with it, preferably, in a non-violent mature way. Just remember there will always be that one person who pisses you off no matter what they say or do.
