My New Year’s Resolution is Blah blah blah

Some 4000 years ago, the Babylonians are said to have instituted the New year resolution tradition. They would promise their gods at the start of each year that they would return items to their owners and pay their debts. The Romans made promises to their god Janus (the month of January is named after this god), and the tradition continues from there.
Today you can search the net entering NEW YEAR RESOLUTION and find everything from marketing campaigns cashing in - selling tips and giving ideas on the resolution you took maybe 5 minutes to decide on - weight loss, be healthier, pay off your mortgage quicker, get out and travel more and quit smoking, quit drinking, find a boyfriend/girlfriend oh and become famous to name a few.
Here is a Revelation to your resolution – these goals only refer to your performance or appearance, you’re outer being. Making poorly formed goals leads to failure and negativity resulting in beating yourself up.
This year, if you must start the new year off with a statement, dig a little deeper. Ask yourself questions and address your goals with a more heightened awareness.
Who are you?
Who do you think you are?
Is that the same as WHO you say you are?
Why this goal?
What are the real outcomes?
Are they achievable or am I flapping at the wind?
Do I have the support of loved ones (or did they just laugh at you, again? Same old resolution, same outcome).
Having said that I believe deferring things you ought to be doing until January is ridiculous. A new year – a fresh start you say. My answer is you wake up every day to a fresh start. You have missed 364 other fresh starts! If this resolution is something you truly want than why not start it when you know what it is and how to achieve it.

By January you could have been 3 months ahead of schedule and already noticing your minor goals along the way.
If it is worth doing and will enhance your quality of life, then do it NOW.
