“I have a question, Fin. What is a Spriggan.”

In folklore, Spriggans were ugly and their job, although very important, was to guard buried treasure and to act as bodyguards, however, they were also said to be thieves. These tiny creatures have the ability to swell to human size or larger.

They enjoy causing mischief and love teasing, especially through song. There are many spriggans who love to thwart travel directions or cause the weather to change or even steal children from the mortal world, however, this is not like THE HALFLING’s spriggan. He has rather unique qualities.

So, there’s no better time to introduce Finnian Whifflebottom! THE HALFLING‘s lock-keeper and protector of Prince Caelian.

“He certainly was an odd-looking character with an abundance of charisma. She fought to recollect who this peculiar creature was until she realised she wasn’t supposed to know him. Dressed in a fussy dark green suit and jacket, which ended in a penguin tail shape, his neat shoes were a rusty red and polished so well that she could see the sun’s reflection in them. He’s a peacock, she thought trying not to giggle at his serious expression made slightly ridiculous by his pointy nose and bright green eyes.

His golden shirt sported buttons shaped like tiny keys. His hair was snow white and frizzy, escaping out the sides of his lanky hat. His ears, besides being far out of proportion to the rest of him, moved at every sound. She held back the urge to touch their tips and hold them in place. She hadn’t noticed before, but when she spoke, they twisted towards her.” – From THE HALFLING
